In the heart of the Himalayas lies a land that captivates the soul with its unparalleled beauty and power – Kashmir. For three unforgettable years, from 2013 to 2015, I had the privilege of calling the picturesque valley of Kashmir(Srinagar) my home. Srinagar beckoned with its timeless beauty, rich history, and the promise of unforgettable experiences. As I reminisce about my journey through this enchanting land, I am compelled to share the tales of beauty, resilience, and hope that define my time in Kashmir.
*A Canvas of Beauty🏔️:
Kashmir is a land of unparalleled beauty, where every corner seems to be painted by the hand of a master artist. From the snow-capped peaks of Gulmarg to the serene waters of Dal Lake, each vista is a testament to nature's magnificence. Wandering through the lush Mughal gardens and meandering along the winding roads, I was constantly mesmerized by the symphony of colors and the serenity of the landscape.
*Surviving the Srinagar Flood - Sep 2014 :
The floods were caused by unusually heavy rainfall that led to the overflowing of the Jhelum River and its tributaries. The floods wreaked chaos on the region, causing extensive damage to infrastructure, homes, crops, and claiming numerous lives.
The Srinagar flood of 2014 were a defining moment in my life, a testament to the strength of the human spirit in the face of unimaginable adversity. Though the scars of that fateful September will always remain, so too will the memories of courage, compassion, and solidarity that defined our collective response to the disaster. As we continue along the road to recovery, I am reminded of the strength that lies within each of us, ready to rise above any challenge that may come our way.
Back There in 2015 :
Living in Kashmir during those ear-shattering times meant negotiate through the complexities of conflict and uncertainty. Curfews, protests, and military presence were a part of daily life, casting shadows of fear and alarm. However, amidst the challenges, there was also a profound sense of strength and hope. As I witnessed the power of the people and their unwavering commitment to peace, I couldn't help but feel hopeful for the future of this beautiful land.
Withholding the Present Moment:
Today, as I look back on my time in Kashmir, I am filled with gratitude for the experiences and memories that have shaped me. The beauty of the valley, the warmth of its people, and the strength in the face of adversity have left an indelible mark on my soul. As Kashmir continues to write its story of resilience and renewal, I am reminded of the timeless words of Persian poet Saadi Shirazi, "The rose and the thorn, and sorrow and gladness are linked together."
My journey through Kashmir was more than just a chapter in my life, it was a tapestry woven with threads of beauty, bravery, and hope. As I bid farewell to the valley, I carry with me the timeless echoes of its landscapes and the persistence of its people. For in Kashmir, amidst the deafening currents of history, there lies a beacon of hope – a witness to the enduring spirit of humanity.
